Welcome to The MotiveBoard

So I have been procrastinating to get this up and running as I keep allowing the day to day (I must tell this story later) to get in the way.

At the end of 2019, I advocated and took my work team on a lengthy drive across country. No cares, no agenda but just to ‘breeze out’ and chill. No one thought or spoke about anything other than positives looking into 2020. I don’t even think COVID (or its coming impact) was on our radar at that time.

Fast forward a few months into 2020 and I started reducing staff, and seeing other departments in the organization losing good and (to be honest) some not so great employees too.

Now here is where in the back of my mind I revisited the idea I had floated years before, long before COVID upended our daily commutes and made employers do the unthinkable and ‘allowed’ staff to work remotely – ‘how do we as Caribbean nationals find opportunities for remote work – locally or ….EEEKS!, …. internationally?’ I am convinced our region’s people are as talented as people from anywhere else around the globe. Could we not play in that space?

I am not only thinking freelancers, consultants and the like – clearly those too – but what about PERMANENT employment opportunities and positions? Could those not … ahmmm … work???  I am convinced they could definitely ‘work’! And that as they say is that.  The genesis of The MotiveBoard.  A community for digital nomads, remote work aspirants, (and yes freelancers too) to knock heads, network, share experiences and of course give pointers to move in the right direction to secure employment.

So here we are, and I invite you to join us on this journey. Whether you are actively looking or just curious. Has COVID whetted your appetite for work from home/anywhere? Do you have a remote work/work from anywhere story? Share it! If you stumble onto our blog as an employer, stick around and join in, share your thoughts on why you would advocate (implement) remote work or why you wouldn’t.  And yes, we are aware remote work will not fit all job types – sooo maybe hybrid approaches can be added? Let’s hear (air) it all…

Next up… Opportunities Exist! Or do they??
